VARIETY OF TILE CHOICES 


  • Commonly made of porcelain, ceramic, or stone. Technological advancements have made it possible for tiles to now be available in materials such as glass, metal, rubber, etc.
  • Floor tiles are typically set into a cement mortar for adhesion, and wall tiles set with a glue adhesive. The grout joints are filled with sanded or un-sanded grout.
  • Tiles are the hardest flooring surface, and if installed over most properly prepared substrates with regular recommended maintenance, they will last for many years.



NATURAL STONE


  • Natural stone tiles (marble, granite, limestone, slate, onyx, travertine) are beautiful because they are natural. Additionally, they are less uniform in color, size, thickness, and texture. They can be highly variegated depending on the quarry they were cut from.
  • Tends to be porous, and you are, required to seal the tile prior to grouting and periodically reapplying the sealant (once or twice a year depending on the type of stone and where it has been installed).
  • Some natural stone tiles are softer than others and can be prone to scratching.
  • Care should be taken as to where and how they are used.
